The Choral Society of Lourdes School Quezon City is the genesis of the Lourdesian Choral Arts Society serving as the ambassadors of their school for choral music representations and services. The Choral Society of Lourdes School is the training ground of members under the reputation of the school. A majority of its known members have taken part in representation of the group in participating inter-school and international competitions for the past decade. Moreover, the choral society is involved in sharing to the school community their visions and advocacy for choral music education and experiences. The choir has also produced 3 concerts, Akademikon: Pagdiriwang concert series 1, Akapopaskuhan: Pagdiriwang concert series 2 and Decade: The Lourdes School Choral Society's Anniversary Concert. Recently the Choral society of Lourdes School of Quezon city has received its recognition of coveting the 2nd runner up rank in the 2015 voices district choral competition sponsored by the city local government.

 

Currently the members are; Stella vasquez - Soprano, Robin Habana, Alex Elayda and Martin Alix - Treble voices, Aris Antinero - Tenor, Hans Baes -  Baritone, Ryan Basilio - Bass. The choral society is the training group of the Lourdesian Choral Arts Society and is bounded by its core values to sing, serve, love, worship and lead. 

 

As a singing group they aspire to discover and share new heights for the choir setting fold not only to school related activities but to the community as well with the combined efforts of both current members and alumni as well.

 

The choral society explores to the foreign sound production inspired by foreign choirs like Voces8, Harry Christopher's The Sixteen, Stephen Layton's Polyphony, The Choir of Royal Holloway, Apollo5, Rajaton, Il Fagiolini and the Swingle Singers.

The Lourdesian Choral Arts Society, formerly called as the Lourdes School Choral Society (LSCS) of Lourdes School Quezon City was established as a performing group in 2005 composed of youthfully talented students that soar into new heights for choral excellence. The choral society's endeavors to sing, serve, love, worship and lead – gearing their direction to show and develop the best of talents of its members through choral singing and imparting choral music to the masses, which ranges from different era of various choral genres such as sacred and secular pieces, negro spirituals, Philippine folklorics, local and international contemporary music repertoires. Moreover, the choir has recognizable external and internal school functions such as serving regularly during novena and mass celebrations, competitions, and local TV and media guestings. 

 

The Lourdes School Choral Society's maiden performance on stage was in 2005 during the 50th Anniversary Institutional Variety Show of the school wherein they sang their first choral pieces "Kayu Munggay Daun", a Bilaan Tribal ethnic song, and Musika, a Pinoy popular choral piece composed by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. Since then, the choral society has set their journey on stage as either a competitor or a performer. In the year 2008, the choral society took part in the 10th CMLI ViH, becoming  one of the ten grand finalists out of 27 choirs in their first competetion. In 2009, they were invited to be part of the Step for Hope Benefit Concert for the Ondoy victims held at La Salle Greenhills with several youth choirs hailing from different parts of the metro, and in the same year, successfully competed in CMLI ViH 11 at Himig Pasigueno, Pasig City. In 2010, they were invited to the choral competition Himig Pedrista ranking 5th for the judges in their sacred Filipino music entree. On the same year the choral society made two guestings in the ABS-CBN morning T.V. show, Umagang Kay Ganda, wherein they performed Christmas carols in mid-November and was reinvited in December to perform Filipino Christmas carols  to start-off the Simbang Gabi season. Also in the same year, the LSCS succesfully participated in the Musikapella V Choral Competition, held at Crossroads 77, Quezon City. The following year of 2011, the LSCS was invited to take part in a Christmas Simbang Gabi Celebration held at Dutyfree Philippines, Pasay City and equally competing in the same season as once again grand finalist for the CMLI ViH 13 venued at the Aliw Theater, Pasay City. In 2012 the LSCS once more claimed circle in the roster of grand finalists for CMLI ViH season 14, competing in the prestigious AFP Theater located in Quezon City. In the same year the choral society was put to the test to set their choral skills on stage as choristers and actors in the musical-play produced by the Lourdes School community entitled as "Transitus": The Journey in the Life of St. Francis of Assissi. Year 2013 marked the choral society's biggest achievement as they were invited to join in the Interkultur Philippines International Choral Competition: Sing'n'Joy Manila 2013, competing in the young adult mixed choir category, receiving in the end a Silver Level IX Diploma and ranking top in the category that they have participated in. Moreover, the Lourdes School Choral Society has made efforts in producing their own concert in school which espoused their intentions in rendering choral music education and exposure for the LSQC community namely the GENERATIONS CONCERT in 2011 and the FAMOUS CONCERT in 2012. All of which served its purpose to return the gratuity of support for the oppurtunity that the school has provided to ensure that the dreams of LSCS to reach excellence in the choral field turn into reality.

 

For almost a decade now, the Lourdes School Choral Society (LSCS) of the Lourdes School Quezon City has garnered numerous awards from various competitions and a number of guestings. At current the choral society has been awarded a Silver level IX diploma for competing in the Sing N’ Joy Manila 2013 held at the ALIW theatre. The choral society ranked first in the mixed choir category of the week long event competing against other Filipino choirs of par recognition.

 

The choral society have held 3 concerts in the following year of 2014 and 2015. It was the premiere of their first concert series entitled as PAGDIRIWANG which speaks about the celebration of life through choral music and literacy. 2014 marked 2 mini concerts for PAGDIRIWANG, AKADEMIKON or the fusion of music for Filipino terms of Akapela (acapella music), Akademiko (academic music) and Konsiyerto (in concert). Akademikon featured music wherein each choral piece to perform's musical background, history, language, period, culture and composer was narrated, thus also educating the audience. AKAPOPASKUHAN, which followed a couple of months after AKADEMIKON, featured the choral society's versatilty in widened spectrum in the performance of Christmas choral pieces which narrates the Nativity as a welcoming serenade for the yuletide season and popular tunes  as well.

 

In celebration of the Lourdes School Choral Society's 10th year of existence, 2015 marked the year for the choir to make a major event entitled DECADE. The concert culminates all the achievements of the choral society in its 10 years of service as a functional choral group who garnered attention for the school to be recognized not only to be part of the top high school choirs in the metro but likewise as part of the top 1000 choirs in the world as recognized by Interkultur. Decade became the fusion of members from past to present performing pieces which became significant to what structured the group to its singing career and recognition.     

 

As the year follows on, the choral society has again coveted another award locally from the 2015 Voices, District Choral Competition for Community-based Organizations of Quezon City. The choir ranked 2nd Runner-up in the event competing against 13 choir of the district representation in Quezon City, Philippines.

 

In canto, serviam, amore, adoro et duzco; their cornerstone of character and commitment to interpret and promote intellectuality united by choral music performance and promotion and enthusiasm. The group, since then, continues their journey in being ambassadors of music representing the school’s institution.
